How To Choose Fabric For Clothes ?

Getting  into  fabric store for a project or  shopping for clothes, choosing the right fabric is never be easy.  It becomes complicated when incorporated in any project and it becomes more complicated in the case of shopping because they can be so particular against the skin. India and its some of the states become the leading exporter of fabric. Fabric is manufactured by various fabric manufactures in India and then it is exported by fabric suppliersThese fabric suppliers supply the varieties of fabric in a huge amount with an affordable cost. Cotton comes from the cotton plant.  It’s cheap, easy to clean, and comfortable. It easily stretches and found in various color and designs.  It’s also susceptible to wearing out over time.

Denim comes from cotton fabric that has been woven to produce a diagonal ribbing. This cloth is stiff and sturdy. It is so widely used in jeans.

Flannel is lightweight and soft.  It is  made from wool, cotton, or synthetic fiber. It can be brushed to make it softer.

Hemp is made from the stem of the marijuana plant, but does not contain narcotics. Hemp’s texture is similar to linen. It has a tendency to wrinkle.

Linen is a lightweight fabric that breaths well in hot weather.  It is a natural fiber that comes from the flax plant. It wrinkles very easily and requires gentle washing.

Nylon was invented as a synthetic replacement for silk, it was used in WW2 to make parachutes and tires.  It was also used to make women’s stockings.  Nylon is strong, cheap and is easily washed.

Polyester tends to be very comfortable. It washes well and doesn’t require special care. They are durable, and the dyes don’t fade. For a twirly dress, that doesn’t really matter.  There’s plenty of room for air to go in an out, and given the softness and durability, it really is the ideal fabric.

Satin is light weight or heavy weight.  It tends to be glossy in appearance and is smooth, silky, and blowy.

Silk is incredibly smooth and lustrous, and comes from the cocoon of the mulberry moth.  It is very lightweight and silky. It is  ideal for draping and lining.

Spandex also called as lycra(blend of cotton and Lycra), is a synthetic fabric that stretches well.  It is perfect for exercise clothes, but because it is skin tight, it hides nothing.

Rayon comes from cellulose fiber.  It can be arranged well because it is lightweight, but still heavier than cotton.  Rayon is manufactured fabric from natural fibers.   It is often used to mimic the feel of silk, wool, and linen.  It is soft, comfortable and smooth.  Rayon is good for hot and humid climates because it doesn’t insulate body heat.  A little disadvantage is that it requires careful washing and is not very durable.

Wool comes from sheep and goat hair.  It is very warm, but can also be itchy.  Mohair is a variation of wool that comes from the breed of Angora goats.
